5th NORTH BATANGAS SUMMIT TACKLES GLOBALIZATION
North Batangas government and business leaders, members of the academe, and local interest groups gather once again for the 5th North Batangas Summit scheduled on January 29, 2010 at the Lima Park Hotel, Lima Technology Center , Malvar, Batangas. This event brings together experts in the fields of Regional Planning and Development, Economic Development, Education, Environmental Management and Urban Planning in a day of learning and discussion.
This year’s theme is “Connecting Batangas to the Global Village.” Among the topics to be tackled are: Infrastructure Updates for CALABARZON to be discussed by Mr. Richard Albert Osmond III, Vice-President for Corporate Affairs of Science Park of the Philippines and former Chair, Regional Development Council (Region IV) and Gearing Up for Disaster Preparedness in North Batangas to be discussed by Col. Alex Escano, Chairman, Private Sector Disaster Management Network.
For the afternoon roundtable discussion, former policymakers Karina David, former Chairperson, Civil Service Commission, Dr. Milwida Guevarra, former Undersecretary, Department of Finance, Cielito Habito, former Director-General, National Economic and Development Authority, and Melito Salazar Jr. , former Monetary Board Member, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas will be presenting and sharing their thoughts on the topic: Prospects and Challenges in Governance.
Since its inception, the biennial North Batangas Summit has been participated in by international and local organizations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, Asian Institute of Management, Cultural Center of the Philippines , University of the Philippines , and other leading educational and urban planning institutions in the country.
The summit is being organized by the First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities (FAITH) School of Management in partnership with Bato Balani Foundation Inc. (BBFI). Among this year’s corporate sponsors are Lima Land Inc, Waltermart, and Lima Park Hotel.
