FIRST ASIA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND HUMANITIES recently hosted the 2009 Calabarzon Communication Convention, with the theme “Crossing the T’s: Communication Education for a Fast Changing World.” Five colleges and four high schools in the Galabarzon area were treated to a day of plenary sessions and interactive talks with known practitioners and communication professors from the media industry. In attendance were the following: First Asia Institute of Technology and Humanities, Laguna University, Cavite State University, Collegio de San Juan De Letran-Calamba, Lyceum of the Philippines-Laguna, Bemardo Lirio National High School, Makiling National High School, Cuenca Institute, Mabini National High School-Janopol and The Mabini Academy. Plenary sessions featured talks by Muntinlupa Rep. Ruffy Biazon, TV anchor Gilbert Remulla, filmmaker Ralph Quijano and cinematographer Jim Lumbera, TV reporter Mariz Umali and Social Communications director for the Archdiocese of Lipa Fr. Nonie Dolor.
